The Dehydrated Food Museum

The Dehydrated Food Museum is a natural history museum dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of accidentally dried food.

The museum was established in 1991. Its specimens all date from our current Holocene/Anthropocene geologic epoch. The museum’s original inspirations were an accidentally petrified banana resembling dinosaur bones, and an incinerated piece of toast. Each specimen has been meticulously reviewed and scrutinized by our curatorial and laboratory staff before being instated into the museum’s collection.

Please feel welcome. Study and delight in the varied forms of these serendipitously dehydrated specimens, which have been transformed through time by the forces of nature.  Browse the exhibits >
